In the game, players must face thousands of orcs during the historical gap between Tolkien's 'The Hobbit'and 'Lord of the Rings,' upgrading their skill trees as they gain experience from their travels. In fact, 'Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor' takes its open-world gameplay one step further by giving players a choice of preferred playing style. After the game ushers you through a few tutorials, you can choose to go hand-to-hand with the orcs, fire upon them with soul arrows at a distance, or sneak up from behind - or above - when they least expect it.

A honest review.
The game is fairly good. You play the part of a ranger who was killed and is a wrath spirit. You fight TONS of orcs in the game and that's mostly what you do. Though the orcs vary a bit from weapons, armor, and so on. You also do some stealth and archery. You gain more powers/abilities as you get more experience. Such as sword styles, bow strikes, health, wraith powers, and so on. It isn't a heavy story based game but more a run around and kill stuff game. You also collect artifacts that tell stories, but honestly I skip the story telling. The game has a lot to it and you'll get killed. But you never die (maybe at the end of the game). You climb towers in different areas so you can quick travel. It is a solo game and not for multiplayer.

Exciting and Adventurous!
Great game. It’s 2020 now and I’ve been collecting a lot of Xbox 360 titles that I never got to play when they just released. I watched a trailer for this game on Xbox Live and it made me want to play it. Definitely worth it and I am almost 20 hours in. So many different ways to conquer the enemy. I’m not a fan of Lord of the Rings but you don’t have to be to play this. I’m happy to have found this game and will be getting the sequel Shadow of War.

Nice but repetitive
It’s has very good gameplay and story, however the story is rather short. And after a while the gameplay is repetitive. Still very good, especially for it being a older game.

Fun game!
One of the most fun games I have played! I was a big fan of Batman Arkham series and the gameplay is very similar (but then you get to ride creatures too). It also has a good stealth/strategy angle that you have to play.

It by far the best gameplay I've seen on a game so far. The story is mediocre and the main character its not that much interesting but the gameplay mechanics throws all that away. Its a fun game that will keep you playing for a while. Trust me
