Blackburn Borough Transport - OM41114A. Leyland PD3 East Lancs. The network with 61 trams was electrified between 1899 and December 1903. VEHICLE REGMTJ 968C, FLEETNUMBER130. 1:76 SCALE.
A colourful offering from Corgi of a former red and cream Darwen Leyland PD3 bus. The real one was one of three purchased by Darwen Corporation in 1965 and became part of the enlarged Blackburn undertaking in 1974. It served until withdrawn in 1978 so the model is firmly set in the mid seventies.
The diecast body is very close in detail to the real one and the base of the model is secured by two long screw type fittings with plastic seating inserts. The East Lancs body is designed for several different front assemblies with AEC, Daimler and two different Leyland designs, one with exposed radiator and the other as in this case the StHelens fibreglass design. A pleasing model to own.
