It’s so easy that no prior experience or even any craft skill is necessary.Armour Etch is a product that, when placed on glass, roughens it, creating distinct, frost-like, etched patterns. It also works on mirrors, dishes, and windows. For those who need those details, the Armour Etch can easily etch glassware, candleholders, and vases. As long as it’s glass, it will work. Skilled users even make beautiful jewelry using the product on dichroic glass, a colorful glass made from quartz crystal and metal oxides. Etching dichroic glass creates colored patterns. Some experienced crafters have even had success etching Pyrex bakeware.You can create designs, patterns, and even words using the product. These can be done with ordinary painter's tape or stencils, which can be bought at a crafts store, or you can create your own template. Materials that make good stencils include Contact paper, shelf paper, vinyl wall decals, and painter’s adhesive. The hobby store also sells blank sheets on which you can cut your own stencil with a blade. Scrapbook embellishments and letters also make a great reverse template where the etching is done around the stickers. The cream is very thick and needs to be applied heavily for the etching to work properly, therefore, utilizing stencils and painter’s adhesive are really the only ways to create personal designs.Glass etching cream was concocted in the mid-1800 and caught on due to its capacity to hide customers in drinking establishments while still letting in the sun’s natural light. Edwardian and Victorian style homes promptly caught on to it, and glass etching remains widely used to this day .It’s so easy to start bringing your crafts to life. First, open a window or use a fan when using the product in order to keep the air circulating. Next, gather your supplies, including the items you want to customize, alcohol, painter's adhesive or stencil, Armour Etch, plastic gloves or dishwashing gloves, and a popsicle stick. Next, clean the item with alcohol, and let it dry. Then apply the painter’s adhesive in the design you desire or tape the templates to the item. Next, apply the cream. A popsicle stick works best, though a brush will also work. Apply it thick, and make sure there are no bubbles. The cream may have an egg-like smell.Wait five to ten minutes, scrape the remaining cream back into the bottle, and rinse the item with water. Your etching is permanent and dishwasher safe. A ten-ounce bottle can last a long time because you can re-use the cream for multiple craft projects. When you're ready to personalize your items, look to Armour Etch for custom results.

    It worked

    I've used this product before when crafting on glass. I needed to take the finish off old pink ceramic kitchen backsplash tile so they would hold a new stone look finish. I could not find a product in any of the DYI stores and they suggested to try the craft stores. I went on line and found this product. It worked like a charm! So now I have a new looking Kitchen and counter and matching backsplash.

    Works very well

    I’ve always used ArmourEtch and never had a problem with it, the trick is that the bottle has to be well shaken before use, if you have it on a shelf for a while and it gets those crystally shards in it, of course you’re not going to get evenly etched glass. To solve that problem, I just put the closed tight bottle into a bucket of very warm water to warm it up and this helps the crystals to melt and be useable again. Then give it another good shake or stir it. Good as new!
