  • Good Camera

This was my first underwater camera. I like that you can set the white balance and that it does videos (albeit no sound and 30 seconds maximum time limit per video). Although the camera takes great photos, I was a little dismayed that there were terribly long lags after taking high-resolution pictures or videos. Depending on the size of the shot/video, I was waiting 20-60 seconds until I could shoot again in some instances. I believed it had something to do with putting an XD card in that was perhaps too large for the capabilities of the C-5000 (started with a 2gb card) so I switched to a 512mb card and I think that has improved the time in between shots a bit. Also, the battery is proprietary making battery acquisition more challenging. I still use my C-5000 and like the quality of ...

  • Great little camera for the money!

The Olympus Camedia C-500 Zoom is a great little camera. I bought it as a beginner camera to take underwater photos with the PT-019 underwater housing, and it takes GREAT PHOTOS! Actually after my first dive I bought another as a backup camera. My only complaint about this camera is that the display screen is so small. It takes about 50 photos per battery charge underwater (always using the flash) at maximum resolution and the camera being on constantly for an hour or so at a time. Too bad there are not extended life batteries available for it! Buy one and enjoy it!

  • Olympus Camedia C5000 Zoom 5.0 megapixel

Sweet! I own a 3.2 megapixel Camedia that lives in my purse & replaced the 1.3 we used in China for the last year or so that we lived there--I can make exhibition-quality 8" x 10" prints from those pics, but not from parts of them. I own an Evolt 410 10 megapixel Olmpus digital SLR, which can do amazing things but is too big & obvious to be a good everyday/travelling camera. I need something with more pixels to shoot the jewelry I sell in my etsy shop, The Creative Block, & to carry around for pics to make really big, blow up just parts of, or use for other more pixels per inch projects. This camera fills the bill--it's small, intuitive, easy to use, & has enough bells & whistles for anything that doesn't require an SLR (which is most photography, actually). I've just bought 2 of these & ...

  • OK for what it is but disappointing design

Although this camera works just fine and takes nice photos, the design of the various menus is very poor and frustrating. Too many buttons must be pressed in order to change very simple settings. Although this camera has a lot of features, the useful ones are buried too deeply within the menus and obscured by what I would call "a lot of fluff". One of my main disappointments is that this camera has a very difficult time focusing indoors and has an unusual tendancy to set off the flash outdoors when it is not necessary. Battery life is acceptable, but could be a lot better. This camera works well as a basic point and shoot with the automatic setting, but the point of an advanced camera like this is to be able to easily use manual features and this camera makes that difficult and ...

  • Amazing camera!

I have owned this camera for a little over a year now and it has been a great camera. It has great adjusting features and is really fun to used. In fact it takes such good pictures, one of the pictures I took with it is being published in a book! I love this camera!
