About this product

Product Information

John Moore's remake of Richard Donner's unsettling 1976 horror classic increases the quality of production values, yet stays very true to the original. Live Schreiber (EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED) plays Robert Thorn, a wealthy American official living in Rome, whose wife, Kate (Julia Stiles, MONA LISA SMILE), has just lost her first child. At the behest of a strange priest, Robert substitutes an orphaned child for his own without Kate's knowledge, and soon the small family is living an idyllic existence on a lavish estate in England. But when the child, Damian (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick), turns five years old, strange things begin to happen, beginning with a nanny's public and very grisly suicide at the boy's lavish birthday party. Kate begins to notice odd things about her child, such as the way other children don't want to play with him, his strange provocation of animals, and his increasingly pronounced withdrawal from her. By the time she begins fearing for her life, however, it may be too late, and it's up to her husband to figure out once and for all if the child really is the spawn of Satan. Thus Robert embarks on a journey that takes him back to Italy, Jerusalem, and an encounter with a priest of decidedly horrific mien; he's aided by a photographer who has figured out what's going on, and who just might be the next one to die. The atmospheric, spooky mise-en-scene, marked by an almost constant storm and grey tones interrupted by startling reds, deliciously makes the most of the film's exaggeratedly apocalyptic message. The wonderful Mia Farrow (ROSEMARY'S BABY) is unbelievably creepy as Damian's replacement nanny.

Everything was great (communication, shipping time, packaging, price, description, everything). But what makes this sell stand far above and beyond everyone else is he didn't try to remove the store price tag!! Most of the time the box gets damaged! So thank very much, and if you got it at the price that is on the sticker,, than kudos to you!!! You deserve every penny and more!!!thanks again sincerely Joseph j

Item arrived safely BUT…….. was placed in a thin mailing bag and supported on one side only. Could easily have been crushed during shipping; fortunately not. Box is in much worse shape than pictured/described (‘used’ is not a description of condition). Seller was kind enough to lower the price and overall transaction went OK.

Seller was amazing. Was willing to work with me on post getting me what I needed. Fast shipping and great communication all the way through. Package was lost for a few days, no fault to seller, but was very kind and helpful until it showed up a few days later. Thanks again! Bid with confidence knowing you will get a great outcome!!

  • Remake Warning!!!

Since Hollywood has run out of good ideas we must suffer remakes of all sorts. This one may be better than its original but that's not saying much at all. The boy who plays Damien is creepy and there are a few shocking deaths throughout the story. But the pace is much too slow to keep anyone who saw the same theatrical trailer advertising a fast pace thriller interested for the whole movie. There is an all-star cast and the story has some fun twists and turns but the acting feels forced except for action sequences. Check this out if you are a fan of the original or just have to see every horror movie ever created. Anyone else can pass this one up and rest easy by doing it. 3/5

  • Not Bad. Not Great!

not a bad re-make but boy is it ever a re-make....everything with the exception of the first 15 minutes is the same as the original. the cast does a good job. Damien - the son of Satan - is not as creepy as the original. Mia Farrow does a pretty good job as the Nanny who protects Damien. for those of you who don't know anything about the story: a baby is given to a couple when the mother loses her child during birth - the mother does not know that another child was given to her as it would cause to much heartbreak. the child ends up being the devil and is back to take over the world. watch the original, its a classic. If you have seen the original, this one is worth a look but I wouldn't add to my collection.

  • GOOD VS. EVIL AGAIN

Spooky like the orginal but frankly not quite as good. Perhaps more twists or deviations could have been added or deleted to make this remake even better. Julia Styles is simply average. Liev Schreiber steals the show along with Satan's spawn( a very evil child actor). This movie has the typical end of the world, good vs. evil context. It does remain creepy, dark and scary. Christians of all dominations, will feel goosebumps as the devil returns to Earth to steal our souls. Mia Farrow fulfills her duty as the watcher of the Satan's son. She plays his nanny with murderous intent and a cheerful Mary Poppins like edge. Perhaps her performance is a little tongue in cheek, since she played Satan's mother in RoseMary's Baby. Mia seems to temp fate with her connection to Charles Manson, Roman ...

  • Hmmmm.... not bad.

This remake of the original is really not too bad. If you are familiar with the orignal, that might make a difference because you know what to expect and the really surpising scenes are not as shocking. This movie might be great for someone who has not seen the original. The actors did very well and finely cast. It had its slow moments, or moments when you were trying to figure out who was who and what plot twists they were throwing in, but there none. It was pretty simple. The movie is remeniscent of the Final Destination series of movies because you were looking at the mysterious ways that people were getting knocked off. My only gripe was the ending. You see the horrible consequence that Damien's family ended up taking the long dirt nap and the scene ends with Damien holding ...

  • Watch the Original!! Pass on this!

Hmmmm! I am a HUGE Fan of Horror movies as well as disasters and can't wait for the new releases to come out. I will admit this one didn't have much of a draw from the start for me but I went ahead and rented it. I mean the Original really played out the whole theme of Evil Possessed Kids with like 5 or 6 sequels and it was hard for me to believe they would go back and remake the first one. As I was watching it I couldn't help but feel like I would have enjoyed watching the original over again than watching this tired remake. This movie would have been better throwing out the remake idea and making a completely new "The Omen 10". Thanks for reading my Opinion!!
