Old Laptop. Plenty of Horsepower under the hood
First of all. The one I bought came with the extreme processor. No operating system. I chose Server 2008 and Server 2012. Dell does not support either version. My Vostro 3750 got wet. Went poof. Weight is not an issue for me. 17" screen a must have. I have a need for speed. Price....CHEAP very important. Mine came with an ATI video card. I have bought only one new Laptop in the last 20 years. If you need Speed. Lots of memory at a cheap used price. This is it. With a program. Mine runs at 3GHZ all day long. Five years later, still a lot to offer.
This is a big laptop. Not too big to take from location to location, but not convenient if you need to carry it around the same room. It feels like a well built machine. Pros: 1) Even though they are outdated, the processor options are still pretty viable for most things 2) Professional grade video cards are still upper class 3) Many have high resolution screens 4) Backlit keyboard 5) Nice sized keyboard 6) Quality components 7) Upgrades to Windows 10 with few issues Cons: 1) HUGE power brick. Runs on over 200 watts 2) Speakers are only so-so 3) No HDMI out 4) Because of high power consumption, battery life isn't very good 5) Semi-glossy top and glossy keys show fingerprints badly 6) Metal case, including top, can be dented 7) Jog feature of the trackpad is hard to get working under ... i use it as a desktop. so i dont worry about battery or its weight. i will say that im so happy to have it. if you want an upgrade adeable powerhouse, check one out. im already modernizing mine; ram, hdd, ssd etc. remember this is an older machine, so do your homework, ask questions, if you dont know or understand, find out. anyway, i really do like my dell.

No, it's not lightweight nor does the battery last very long, but it's a mobile workstation, not comparable to typical laptops which feel like toys by comparison. And that's exactly what I like about it. It doesn't slide all over the place, it has a true full size keyboard with full size keys, a huge "old school" 4:3 LCD screen rather than 16:9 widescreen (never tall enough for spreadsheets for me). Has about every video and memory card connection you could ever use. When my first one failed due to a completely avoidable accident on my part, this one is a perfect replacement!No, it's not lightweight nor does the battery last very long, but it's a mobile workstation, not comparable to typical laptops which feel like toys by comparison. Not only is it stylish in the Covet version, but gains the power of the i7 series of Intel processors. It even allows for the responsiveness of an mSATA card boot drive, although is limited by the BIOS to only one spinning drive in that configuration. An excellent Win 7 machine also capable supporting the less-desirable Win10 OS. The edge-to-edge full-gamet display is incredible and no longer available high-end mobile workstations.
