hard to believe it's over a decade old!

Of all the FPS games I have played over the years, COD still stands out from all of its peers (c.2003). It plays well; the storyline is believable and mirrors historical events and time period with accuracy. Although the graphics appear somewhat dated by the standards of today; it’s still a fun game to play. Cheers, Chris

Waited years and paid less...and still a disappointment

For some reason it lags and I have a great system. I dislike the linear story line play and emphases on multiplayer (I only do single player), but I knew that going in (it is why I waited many years to buy and let it get discounted to $10).

  • Call Of Duty

Call Of Duty is absolutely for players who prefer the WWII era of games. Seeing as I bought Call Of Duty2 before I bought and played the original , I had alot more to compare this game to. As far as being equivalent to COD2 , it definately is just as good. The best parts about any of the COD games is that the games play smoothly and uninterupted by anything , not like other games such as Metal Of Honor-Pacific Assault where the requirements are vastly different from one expansion pack to the other. It speaks volumes that COD commits itself to the players by allowing them to follow the series without having to upgrade a PC. Call Of Duty "IS" the best WWII series , as it also caused other game makers to produce a much more realistic looking HUD to screen atmosphere in 2007 releases to ...

  • call of duty

the game is a very realistic depiction of the wwii era. attention to detail is good on types of weapons and uniforms used by both axis and allies forces, but the follow the radar feature is something i am not crazy about. i prefer more wide open games where you can walk and explore more. overall i recommend the game if you are looking for a wwii era first person shooter. i personally prefer less structure in mission objectives and more exploration (i.e. Duke Nukem 3D, the Quake series, Return to Castle Wolfenstein)

  • Call of Duty Insider Review!

I have spent many hours playing this game in SP as well as MP modes. SP has a new useful combat stance above many other WW2 FPS games of its time. This stance is PRONE. Also, you can lean around corners and lob grenades at your enemy, while not totally exposing yourself. The damage on each gun is different as well, for instance, the Thompson does less damage per round then the BAR. Another great feature of this game is that in MP mode, you can create your own mods (Skins, battle maps, sound files)as well as download others mods before playing on their server. Another perk is that even in SP mode you can use some armor and artty as well as runnin around with your own personal weapons. in MP you can man tanks, Flak 88s, AT Guns, Mortors, MGs, and a few more static objects im sure i may have ...
