Side Pocket is, besides being a classic, simply the best pool game released to Sega Genesis. I had this as a kid and, while I was really not into pool that much in childhood, the game is so charming and well done that took me hours of play and fun. Its mechanics make the experience of pool very real and it's very nice and challenging to play against a friend. The one player mode is equally challenging and interesting, because it builds up a story of a guy trying his luck and fortune travelling through America to test himself in the best pool houses. There is also some challenges, taken directly from pool championships, where you have to clear all balls following some rules that change from challenge to challenge. Those challenges are also available in a mini games session outside the story mode and it's very hard to beat them all. It's also quite realistic. The balls flows correctly in the table and you can even change the way you strike the ball to achieve a desirable effect. But what I like most about this game is the ambientation that it brings. The American jazzy scenario from the late 80s and early 90s is well perceived in the characters clothing, women and drinks illustrations and, most of all, in the superb soundtrack that brings up so many memories nowadays. For calm and cold weekend evenings accompanied by your favorite drink and a beautiful woman by your side.Read full review
