Camera was brand dew as described. Great price! My issue came with the shipping process. It shipped out fast but the seller requires an in person signature. They will not allow for pickup at a local shipping store and won't reroute to a different address. I had to take a day off work to wait for the package. An older camera with a lot of years left in it.
This is easily one of the best bargains for a Sony APSC-sized sensor camera out there. It is 16 megapixels which seems low by todays standards, but keep in mind that many people are happy with 12 megapixel cameras on iPhones. The big difference is that different lenses can be used, noise suppression can be manipulated in RAW files and pixel peepers will get more detail. It is a Sony model so getting native lenses won't be a problem. Even old manual lenses from other cameras can be used with adapters. There is a zoom-to-focus button so when I use my old Zeiss knockoff Jupiter-8 lens, I can be sure that I'm getting the shot pin sharp. I like having more control over my camera than I could get with my iPhone and this is the perfect solution. Another important feature is that I can use almost ... a very easy camera to us
This is my 3 rd Nex it has taken 3 types to get it right. /Started with a C 3 and then a 5000. I also use a a Alpha a 57 and this camera is equal and as good as the Nex-7 ,but with the mechanics of the a 77. Picture quality is excellent for a used camera, and the feel is just fine and to use is just as great. I have 2 e mount lens a 18-55 mm and a 55-210 lens also. With my LA_EA 2 adapter all my other Sony and Minolta lens work also. I would say that Nex-7 is excellent camera and I would recommend it for any one who is a step away from the Sony a 7 series cameras. This how I plan on going in the near future. Great camera for beginners. I wanted to get a camera that I could make youtube videos with and do a little photography and this was perfect. The camera quality is absolutely stunning and the flash actually makes the quality better. Camera lightens up pictures even in dark areas, really really cool. I've tried a ton of nikon cameras and this is just a winner. Shoots 1080p for around 25-30 minutes and is really fast. The camera can be a little noisy when taking the pic but it's not that bad, just a normal click. It's a little top heavy ( because of the lens) which .. coming from point and shoots was definitely something I had to get used to. I am now! Starter lens is perfect. Battery lasts a really long time. Very happy with this product 5/5. Pros: Long lasting ... Great camera for beginners. An Outstanding Camera
I read the negative reviews and am curious what the issue was with the individual who thought it was terrible. Additionally, the individual who compared it to a Canon was comparing it to which one, if he compared it to the 5d MkIII, then clearly there is no comparison. Having said all that, I love this camera. The 24mb pixel count is outstanding with incredible detail. I used it to photograph fireworks and it worked exceptionally well with great colors and detail on timed exposures. The HDR functionality is outstanding, and the fast shutter speed is very nice for sports and quick shots. I'm not impressed with Sony's lens lineup, but everyone is unimpressed as well. That is being resolved and hopefully Sony will offer an Canon-L Series set of equivalents, otherwise we won't get the ... Nevertheless, my reasons for buying into Sony's E-mount system have been fulfilled completely, so I can recommend the NEX with great enthusiasm. ----- What's good? Back to my reasons for the original purchase! I have a large collection of old and classic lenses from dozens of "obsolete" cameras, and I have long enjoyed seeing what they'll do today, on modern digital sensors. The NEX system, with its relatively large, high resolution and high quality APS-C sensor - the same sensor used in most of Sony's full size DSLRs - and NEX's phenomenally short, 18mm lens mount-to-sensor distance, is the most affordable way thus far to play with oldtime optics and view camera-like movements ... This review is being written only 3 weeks into my use of the Sony NEX - so my impressions may change with time. Nevertheless, my reasons for buying into Sony's E-mount system have been fulfilled completely, so I can recommend the NEX with great enthusiasm. ----- What's good? Back to my reasons for the original purchase! Most adapter mounts are cheap and I am having a blast using both rangefinder and SLR lenses of the '40s, '50s, etc. with my NEX-3. Bravo, Sony!! ----- So what could still stand improvement? Well, from my perspective, a number of things: ----- First, get the prices down, Sony. I bought a discontinued but new NEX-3, despite its lower 14 MP sensor, because it cost 1/2 what the improved 16 MP NEX-3C does... and that let me "buy into" Sony's E-mount and left me cash to buy a bunch of Alpa through Zeiss Icon adapters! Sure, I lust after the NEX-7 - much improved with 24 MP, better controls, etc. - but with its $1K+ extra cost... well, I'm not that well-off. Maybe later! ----- Second, Sony should not cripple any basic functions of their low-end NEXs - like they did with the NEX-3's missing, remotely controlled IR shutter release! The common vendor strategy to push customers towards higher-end, higher-profit models they really can't afford is, IMHO, just plain stupid. I can't believe it adds anything to Sony's marketing success; it just drives potential customers to look elsewhere. ----- Third, Sony should reconsider their push to make the NEX system cameras ever smaller - especially when this ends up costing them really useful functionality like in-body shake reduction (which all the NEXs lack). I, and I suspect many others with medium to large hands, could happily work with a future NEX about the size and thickness of the old Olympus OM SLR bodies, and that would allow plenty of space for the missing image stabilization apparatus behind the APS-C sensor! The larger size would also permit fully manual controls as on the NEX-7 and dynamite OLED viewing within the camera body. ----- Fourth... fifth... sixth... well, I could go on and on. If only Sony would ask me! A full-size sensor? Sure. Better support for third parties who might like to produce electronically integrated adapters for non-Sony "legacy" lenses? Sure. Who wants to throw away their multi-thousand dollar investments in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, et al when moving to a new camera "platform"? I submit that the corporate thinking that says "lock customers into our own walled garden by crippling cross-platform compatibility" is short-sighted and counter-productive to sales volume. ----- Still, today's NEX is already a technically great system with tremendous potential. Sony has already made great strides in polishing both their in-camera firmware and later-model hardware - much of which has been retro-fitted to my lowly NEX-3. Again, bravo Sony! I look forward to buying newer, better models in the future, as I can afford them.
