    Fairies, dragons, wraiths, Oh my! GREAT book!

    LOVE this book! Read the series years and years ago along with my son. Now I am re-reading them so I can talk to my Grandson about them. One of the best series we have ever read. An absolute favorite in our house.

    Fablehaven! A Great Series to read after Potter...

    The picture that ebay shows for this product is correct, but the description is for the second book, Fablehaven: Society of the Evening Star. If you're buying the FIRST book, the one with the witch on the front, it's a great book for old and young alike. We read it as a family a chapter at a time each evening. It's not quite as well developed as Harry Potter, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The grandchildren of caretakers to an ancient preserve of magical creatures find themselves "stuck" with their grandparents (who they barely know) while their parents go on a cruise without them. They end up having the adventure of a lifetime. Set in present day America, the brother and sister pair are complete opposites and interesting characters.     Fablehaven is a great name. From the start a "fable."

    I liked how the author seemed to put himself in the shoes of the character Seth. To me it seems as if the author could have been this type of mischievous when he was about 11 years old. I also like how the characters are gradually introduced to Fablehaven and they have to accept small parts first before they can be trusted with more. This was a great read and a good page turner. I did not like how too many things were thrust at the reader all at once. It was hard to keep up with who was who and the plot. But luckily it all comes about in the end.
