    Entertaining on multiple levels...

    A very cool look at the true Founding Father of Rock and Roll. John Lennon once said that if you wanted to give Rock a different name then you could have called it Chuck Berry - that is just how important Chuck is to the music we all grew up with. This video is great for its mix of "behind the scenes" as Keith Richards puts up with Chuck (who is not always the easy person to deal with) as they prep for the big birthday concert. It is so cool to watch Eric Clapton, Keith and Chuck practicing together. And then the concert itself is a wonderful celebration of so many classic songs from the early days of rock and roll music... Roll Over Beethoven and get ready to ROCK!!!!

    A must-have for Rock and Roll lovers!

    This dvd should be in the library of any lover of Rock music as Chuck Berry is one of the founding fathers of the genre.It can rightfully be said that Chuck is an egotistical, arrogant, pig-headed son of a bitch. But, it is also true that the man's talents as an originator, a songwriter,singer,and an articulate representative of the early days of Rock, make him a national treasure.That having been said, this is an indespensible showcase of the man and his guitar, on display, in both semi-private and public venues. Having gathered together with such luminaries as Keith Richards (who,for the most part, acted as Musical Director for this project),Eric Clapton, Etta James,Julian Lennon,Johnny Johnston,Chuck Leavell,Linda Ronstadt, and Steve Jordan, Chuck and his band are shown rehearsing for ...

    All "Hail" this DVD!

    This Taylor Hackford film continues to fascinate me each time I watch it. While Chuck Berry is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, to use a phrase from the movie: "Everyone knows the music, but no one knows the man". Rolling Stones lead guitarist Keith Richards has his hands full trying to keep up with the soon to be 60-year-old Chuck. By the end of the movie, Keith confesses, "He's (Berry) given me more headaches that Mick Jagger"! You may have seen the theatrical version but the extra discs (up to three in the boxed set) will fill in the gaps on why tension was felt on the set. Those who were there cherished the time with this pioneer of rock, but they couldn't wait to leave him by the end of the production.     Hail Hail this DVD Set

    I thoroughly loved this 2 DVD set, more on the second DVD than the first. I am a huge fan of both Berry & Richards but to be honest, Keefers drunken (mumbling) state sadden me as he put this band together to honor Berry, yet is plastered during DVD #1. Loved Steve Jordan and the incredible Johnny Johnson in the band. One gets an interesting look at a nervous Etta James and Berry who is initially not a fan of Etta, but is overcome by her talent. The narrator did a fabulous job of covering and recording this incredible 60th Birthday documentary for Chuck Berry. The DVD's contain some very enjoyable interviews, practice seesions, and concerts, plus footage covering Berry going to early haunts where he started. Worth the price of admission! Hail Hail Rock & Roll.
