  • 100 Years of Colt 1911s

Have not completely finished reading this book on the 19l1's 100th anniversary, but it appears to be a very thorough and comprehensive work on the development, improvements and current variations of Mr. Browning's awesome, timeless design. I am no 1911 authority myself; I just bought the book because I wanted a good reference and learing tool for me personally. From that standpoint, this book will serve me well in the future for my needs. Now if someone would just write a Colt companion to Jim Supica's outstanding "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson," all would be right with the world. Any takers.....or suggestions for me to look into (1911 books, that is?). Thanks for reading.

  • Best reference on the 1911 I've found....

This well-finished volume is a detailed reference and includes much relatively unknown background history. It is not a technical or mechanical book. A lot of emphasis is placed on the competetive shooting aspects of that history (IPSC) but, arguably, that is one of the major reasons for the changes and modifications which have contributed to the long and interesting life of John Browning's classic design. The pictures are superb and the writing style comfortable and captivating. Great Book!

  • Great buy and great book

The book arrived in a very timely manner and I was very happy with it. I couldn’t put the book! I love the knowledge and history of the 1911.

  • Informative

This is a well written anthology on a very good weapon. Much helpful information on the history and possible current modifications and uses for the 1911 without the slanted perspective some other authors deliver. Excellent addition to my library
