    "Shooter" is a well-presented political thriller., jam-packed with well-executed explosions and chases., but with an overused storyline. (The 'framed-I-didn't-do-it-and-I'll-find-out-who-did-myself-while-ducking-my-pursuers' concept that spawned "The Fugitive", "U.S. Marshals", "Bourne Identity"., and Presidential Assassination and Conspiracy that spawned "In The Line of Fire", "Absolute Power" and "Murder At 1600". Mark Wahlberg, ("Invincible" and "The Departed"), rifles his way through as Bob Lee Swagger, an ex-Marine marksman who is framed as a Presidential Assassin. Lemkin and Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) present grander statements about government corruption, military cover-ups, and a loss of faith in the American political system.     Mark Walberg has found his Mark!!

    I have been a fan of Mark Wahlburg from the early days of Marky Mark through the Calvin Klein Ads and on to his initial roles he should have passed over with the exception of Basketball Diaries. Here he is in his element in a A-Movie finally worthy of his talent. A Conspiracy within a Conspiracy that really makes you wonder if these things like this really do occur as with Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe and the like. Get this, you won't be disappointed!     Shooter does the USMC Proud!

    I can't wait to add this movie to my collection! We rented it and it blew us away (no pun intended). We watched it 2 nights in a row. Lots of interesting information presented regarding the Scout Snipers. The clothes, the guns, the technical information...I never knew what went into making long distance sniper shots. I thought you just put the target in the crosshairs and fired. Not so. Great look at the weaponry, the gear they would wear and how they gather information on targets, would-be targets to prevent assasinations. As the extras indicated (worth seeing!), the Scout Snipers do us proud. These are extremely talented and highly trained men who put their life on the line for their country.     Antoine Fuqua, the director of such action movies as TRAINING DAY and THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS, takes on government conspiracies in SHOOTER.
