On the back says battery included, there were no batteries in there. I had to go out and buy one. Very expensive and looks very old like the colour were deteriorated.

The listing clearly stated "batteries not included" and "I have the original plastic packaging but it is yellowed and brittle."
This is an old device from 1997, it has been used (as stated). The device itself is in very good condition given it is 27 years old, but the packaging hasn't aged well- as the photos showed in detail.
$30aud is much cheaper than similar condition Compu Kitty devices listed on ebay. I think it is a fair price.
