About this product

Product Information

Players fly into the future of a brave new world, as the richly detailed (but wholly unfriendly) skies of Namco's Ace Combat make their PlayStation 3 debut. Following the series' proven formula, Assault Horizon combines fast, forgiving, arcade-style flight combat with authentically modeled aircraft and realistic background landscapes. Refinements include a "close range" combat system, which tests the virtual pilot's agility at supersonic speeds in 3D space. Helicopters are prominently featured in the game, with players taking the roles of both pilot and gunner.

Improvements to damage modeling viscerally intensify the widespread destruction of ground targets, and cutting-edge aircraft explode into countless constituent parts with a well-placed missile hit. Multiplayer sorties are supported with competitive and cooperative online modes. The game's story is not within the established narrative of the series' number-titled sequels. As in Joint Assault for PlayStation Portable, Assault Horizon takes place in a near-future imagining of the real world, instead of in fictional nations of the alternate-reality Earth where earlier games in the series are set.

Flying for the United States Air Force, players engage in high-altitude battle and tactical support assignments, in airborne assaults against the nation's most dangerous enemies around the world. Along with a hanger of helicopters and bombers, missions make ample use of workhorse fighters such as the F-16, F-22, and F-35. The geopolitically tumultuous plot line was written by Jim DeFelice, author of The Golden Flask, Leopards Kill, and other military thrillers.

Game arrived exactly as shown/described (new). Loose disc, but it is common with PS4 games that go through transport. Still packaged really well. Would happy recommend this seller, thank you!!

    Challenging & Real Like

The Game was sent on time. The product was packaged to make sure it was in good condition. The Game play is really awesome to a point of flying & almost falling off my seat. This game I feel wood be a good intro to real life situations as a pilot. The only difference is you can play the game over where as IRL, you won't have that option. The graphics & scenery are very very good on this Game. It's well worth the price & time.

    Didn’t like

I bought this game to substitute for my craving for Ace Combat 4 shattered skies on ps2. Since I don’t have a ps2 anymore I bought this sequel thinking it would be just as good or better. 10 minutes into the game I was bored and shut it off. They just don’t make games like they used to. This game takes away your control over the aircraft to make it easier in dog fights. There is no way of turning that off, it’s part of the new features. Very stupid and boring. Graphics are good though.

  • Good, if slightly flawed aerial combat game

Pros: Great graphics, outputs up to 1080P which I find is a rare thing among alot of games for the PS3, takes full advantage of the system. A decent fighter game, not a fighter sim by any stretch of the imagination but it is a good overall game and has a lot of action in it, decent story which is surprising for a flight sim. Cons: Too much emphasis is placed on the "Dog Fighting Mode" mechanics, something I feel kind of detracts from the gameplay, I also found the auto correction a bit too handholdey for my tastes but that can be turned off as well. Conclusion: If your looking for a flight combat simulator this isn't probably the game you are looking for, but if it's just straight up pulse pounding action you are looking for this is the game for you, decent campaign and online action ...

  • good aerial game

almost everything is good. the one thing that sucks is the inability tondo barrel rolls which means it takes too damn long to pursue the target during dogfights

  • A breath of new life for the Ace Combat series, one that I welcome

Honestly, I love this game. A lot of people send it a lot of flak because "it's the death of the series," but those people don't understand that this is not Ace Combat 7. This is Assault Horizon, a breath of new life into the series. With a lot of action, a story that at least has a bit more essence than the CoD story we've heard a million times, and the fighter jets we've come to know and love... this game gets 5/5 from me. There is a lot of new gameplay, including Dogfight Mode (which is the main point that people attack this game for), but it's really not all that bad. In fact, I think it's a hell of a lot of fun. You have to at least try it. For a more comprehensive review, and one that I agree wholeheartedly with, find Angry Joe's review of Assault Horizon on YouTube. It's a very ...
