I maintain my violin & my daughters. Occasionally we break a violin string. As beginners we find no reason to buy expensive strings, since these Yehudi strings sound good to us after the break in period & the price can not be beat. The seller is extremely thorough with communication, actually in all my many years with Ebay, probably the best. The strings are nicely marked with colors for proper placement & come with instructions. I ordered 2 packs on 11/25 and received them 11/28, 1000miles

Buy them, but buy more than one set

I teach violin. It is essential for me to be able to slap a decent set of strings on the instrument i teach with as well as give students replacements. I highly suggest you buy these strings but on one conditon. As another buyer has suggested, buy more than one set because on the second day of playing, my newly acquired A string popped as i was tuning it. They truly sound good and i was surprised at how well they played.

    Give them time

For the price, these are great strings. But, give them time. They start off very piercing and difficult to tune. I was really worried at first. However, after a few weeks (~ hour per day) of playing, they really started to mellow. The gauge is much thinner than my previous set of Dominants (A of this set felt like the Dominant E). Overall, I am now satisfied with this set. I definitely prefer the Dominant/Pirastro combination, but I am no longer at that level and simply cannot afford it. I now play only for fun, so this is the perfect for me. I do recommend it.

  • Nice tone but takes a few days to break in.

Very nice tone to these strings but they take several days to "stretch out" and stay in tune. By the 4th day I only had to tighten them a smidgeon. After several weeks they become very mellow with a nice dulcet tone. I did have one of the E strings break on one of my other violins when first tuning it. It might be best to let them stretch for an hour before bringing them to full tune.

  • nice sounding strings

i purchased these strings to replace some old stock strings that came with a violin i bought. i have to say that they are really nice sounding strings, they dont change pitch when bowing hard and improved the sound of the violin and projection is louder. i will be looking to purchase more in the future.

  • You get what you pay for

Cheap strings, one broke when I was putting it on, but for being cheap they could sound a lot worse. Buy a few sets at a time if you can, since they break so easily, but since I'm just getting back into playing after a few years off it's a lot better than $30-40 for a set since I'm beyond broke.
