    it's ok for an inexpensive scanner.

    i only require black and white anyway. i don't have any canoscan software from canon for the scanner so i only have some rudimentary non-propietary black and white low resolution code..but its ok for small things...maybe not as good as a new one with supporting cannon software or an epson with supporting software...but its ok.

    Perfect for ubuntu 16.04 or linux mint 18.1

    I am running linux mint 18.1 that has the latest kernel 4.4.0. The scanner works very nice using scan lite. Dumps image into png file format. The scanner was fast at 75 dpi. It auto cropped my image after running the preview, making it more efficient. scanlite shows 75dpi - 4800dpi available. It gives me 8bit per color code depth, or 16bit per color code depth. 8 bit is the standard in computer graphics today 2017. If your getting one with a missing usb cable, know that the cable is not the standard usb kind.

    CanoScan LiDE 120, by Canon.

    I've used Canon-CanoScan scanners before and they have been great. I like the fact that this model, LiDE 120, works on Win 7 pro and Win 10, and is powered though the USB port. Over all a nice stand alone scanner.
