Let me preface this by saying The Cure have long been one of my favourite bands. Over the years their style has changed and to be honest it hasn't always been to my liking (ie. Wild Mood Swings). Also I am not usually a fan of bands reworking their material, however this album certainly doesn't follow my usual rules. For the most part The Cure have been about them and how they wanted to sound...people enjoying their music was a bonus to them as opposed to a goal of theirs. This album came after the Disintegration album, an album regarded by many as the best that The Cure has ever released. Mixed Up contains remixes and extended versions of tracks from both Disintegration, as well as some of their earlier albums too. There are many rumours regarding the influence and motivation for this album. Was in Robert's dark days of depression, his use of hallucinogenic drugs, or something else? This I cannot answer and frankly I am not even sure Robert himself could answer this. The result however is a brilliant, often even darker take than the original, on The Cure's work. The reason I bought this was that I lost a large chunk of my collection and I am now restocking. If you would like to ask me anything further I am curefreak @ livejournal.comRead full review

I really was never in to the Cure but heard this album back in the 90's and really took to it. I used to have the cassette and ended up purchasing this because of the good memories of it. It has all the Cure hits but, the songs are recorded in different mixes, Hence the title.
while a very good album tie mainly for long time completists as some of the songs seem to go on need be even taking into account that this was remix album but i would recomend disintegration or staring at the sea which have more flow but this is stii v very good cd but not the place to start if you are newbies cure fan
THIS IS A COOL REMIX CD FOR FANS OF THE BAND,JUST TO HEAR DIFFERENT MIXES OF THESE WONDERFUL SONGS.ALL THESE SONGS ARE CULLED FROM THE CURE'S MID-PERIOD,(DISINTEGRATION,KISS MEX3,HEAD ON THE DOOR,ETC.)RELEASED IN 1990,THESE REMIXED VERSIONS HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME,VERY WELL.THIS IS A COOL CD FOR CURE FANS,AND FOR GLOOM-POP FANS OF ALL AGES.
