Product Information

A teen idol at 15, an international icon and founder of the Brat Pack at 20, and one of Hollywood's top stars to this day, Lowe chronicles his experiences as a painfully misunderstood child actor in Ohio uprooted to the wild counterculture of mid-1970s Malibu, where he embarked on his unrelenting pursuit of a career in Hollywood.

Reviews
[Lowe's] charming, honest, even affectionate memoir is the story of strong guts behind a strikingly handsome face...A book to recommend widely., "A lovely autobiography, equal parts dish and pathos."-- Vanity Fair "[Lowe] writes viscerally and insightfully...He looks back at the aberrant highs of his heart-throb days, the changing nature of stardom in Hollywood, the trade-off he has made between high life and home life, and the step-by-step effort behind his show business survival. He looked like the callowest kid in the "Outsiders" crew. Now he looks like the sturdiest of them all"-- The New York Times "I really enjoyed it...Thoroughly entertaining: the Brat Pack years, the Wayne's World years, the Alcoholic Obscurity, the Glamorous Romances (Princess Stephanie of Monaco!), the Inevitable Rehab, and the Triumphant Comeback on The West Wing."-- Time Magazine "[Lowe's] charming, honest, even affectionate memoir is the story of strong guts behind a strikingly handsome face...A book to recommend widely."-- Booklist, "A lovely autobiography, equal parts dish and pathos."-- Vanity Fair "[Lowe] writes viscerally and insightfully...He looks back at the aberrant highs of his heart-throb days, the changing nature of stardom in Hollywood, the trade-off he has made between high life and home life, and the step-by-step effort behind his show business survival. • Great stories, nicely written about a beautiful life.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was very interesting, extremely entertaining and beautifully written. What a wonderful story about a fascinating life in a fabulous place and time. I only gave it four out of five stars because no matter how much there is, you can't possibly get enough.

  • Well written and some good stories

Surprise who knew Rob Lowe could write? This is a very entertaining and well written book. I purchased it because the list to get it at the library was probably a year. He could have talked a little less about his "perfect" wife but the book was pretty good otherwise. I would not have paid full price for this but half.com or ebay absolutely!

  • an o.k. read with a really hot author!!!

im sure living it was ALOT more exciting than reading about it. if you are looking for an indepth glimpse into his soul, it doesnt happen. it really is just a few stories of how he met(occasionally slept with) different hollywood stars. well duh, hollywood is an incestial pool that if you really think about it, is kinda gross! this is an o.k. book with a really hot 50 yr old author!!

  • Don't waste your money... doesn't tell you anything interesting.

LOVE Rob Lowe...didn't care for the book. : ( Didn't tell me anything I didn't already know about him. He only touched on certain things in his life and NEVER went into any detail. Mostly talked about his acting life. Would not reccomend.
