It will never compare with a high end Shimano or Daiwa reel, but it seems to be on par with those companies' budget options, and at a much lower price point. Having not used it yet I can't say for sure how durable it will be, but it is silky smooth in operation and feels good in the hand. I hoped to use this reel as a backup for schoolie stripers and bluefish. Not sure anymore, maybe hornpout.
