Comic actor Jim Carrey plays it (mostly) straight for this smart satire from director Peter Weir (DEAD POETS SOCIETY). The life of Truman Burbank (Carrey) has been broadcast around the world with tremendous success since the day he was born. A star for the mere fact that he exists, Truman has no idea that there are cameras in every corner of his world. But soon, cracks begin to show in the constructed world, and Truman questions his existence while everyone around him is in on the joke. Weir directs a fine cast, including Laura Linney as Truman's wife and Ed Harris as the show's director. Screenwriter Andrew Niccol also added interesting twists to the scripts for S1M0NE and GATTACA.

    Excellent movie, a very enjoyable time. What adds to the charm is the fact that my copy is an original DVD from when DVDs were first becoming big. It adds a lot of fun value to the whole exerience.

    Not as good as I was hoping, but a lot of people enjoy it so maybe you will too.

    With all the rave reviews I had heard/ read of this I expected a lot more than was delivered. Maybe I just didn't get it. It played a little boring to me. I have only watched it once though. It is definitely interesting and brings up interesting issues but I guess I wanted a happier story or something with more redemption.

    A funny, engaging story that provokes you to think

    I loved this movie since the first time I saw. If it's a Jim Carrey movie, then most likely it's funny, and this movie was. However, it did not stop there. This movie is a thought-provoking look at how often we can be trapped in a world in which we let ourselves be controlled by others, yet we are the main protagonist in our story, and we should live up to it! Jim Carrey, as Truman, showed us that the was willing to fight to realize his dreams, despite all the obstacles he faced. He decided to control his own life, and not stay in a world in which he wasn't really happy. I think that it's a great watch and I recommend it. That's why I decided to buy it.
