Great buy
It was a great value for the money and has an optical connection which allows you to connect to a flat screen TV with digital sound. I've never seen that before. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't come with an owners manual so you have to figure out how everything works by trial and error. It has plenty of power and offers many controls over the sound all for such a low price.

The STR-DE598 FM Stereo/FM-AM Receiver comes equipped with 6 channels supplying 90 Watts per channel If you have a newer home audio system you may want to look for a receiver that has HDMI inputs, this system dosnt have them. But I still enjoy this system. Built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoding in the STR-DE598 will surround you with 6.1 separate channels of digital sound for sound quality that analog systems can't match. You are enveloped with completely separate channels for Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround, Rear Surround, and the special ".1" channel just for bass. Suddenly, movies have the same excitement and impact as in the theater. Bass is stronger and closer to the director's original intent. The entire experience becomes more exciting, involving and real. ...
