Well-made But Not Comfortable for Long Rides
This saddle is well made and seems durable (I've only put a few 15-mile rides on it.) But on a recent 30-mile ride I struggled with discomfort I hadn't experienced on the shorter 15-mile rides (i.e., under an hour of riding.) For the record I'm 185 lbs and am riding on a carbon-fiber road bike (Kestrel Talon.) I'm now looking again for something more comfortable. I'd expected more comfort given the price. Were it not for the somewhat high price I'd have given it four stars for how well it appears to be made. I can get a comparable saddle for less than half the price of this one ($30+).This saddle is well made and seems durable (I've only put a few 15-mile rides on it.) Beauty of a seat
Despite being a relatively soft vinyl (the material, not the actual padding), the quality and the look is very high. Looks like real leather from more than a few feet away... My only concern is leaning the bike agaisnt things, I predict this seat may rip/tear easily, and I would hate to tear this pretty of a seat. But that's just a prediction... I may be wrong. Construction is flawless... there is perhaps 10-15mm of padding. Not much, but once you get the angle right, it's enough to get the job done. Took me about 2 days of playing with the angle of the seat to be happy.... but now I am. I haven't ridden with too many saddles, but I realized I needed a slimmer saddle since most of my in-the-city riding is done at full speed (just how I like to bike), and this is, for my city biking, a much better choice than the Brooks (with springs) that I had. (Brooks is a very comfortable saddle for touring, when I sit mostly upright and bike slower, but I'm very happy with the Charge for short spurts (10 to 30 minute rides).I haven't ridden with too many saddles, but I realized I needed a slimmer saddle since most of my in-the-city riding is done at full speed (just how I like to bike), and this is, for my city biking, a much better choice than the Brooks (with springs) that I had.
