Needed a ramp for older dog

My Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is 11 yrs. old. She is very active but started having trouble jumping into the back of my SUV. The Vet said she didn't want her to jump out of my SUV anymore due to the stress it was causing on her front shoulders. I looked at many ramps but liked the Solvit ramp the best for 5 reasons: 1) economical 2) easily folds in half 3) compact 4) light weight 5) secure sanded surface. Luci has done a lot of agility and all I had to tell her was to climb and she shot up the ramp! Coming down was a no brainer! My Lab uses it also but only because I don't want her to develop any shoulder issues. I'm very happy with the product!

Strong and light but needs carpet, and better for lower vehicles

Strong, light ramp which can be made to work with the addition of carpet. Even though there is a sand-papery covering, my dog found it too slippery until I stuck some carpet on it . Also, it is somewhat short for making the climb from ground to the back of a pickup truck . My dog can do it now but I imagine that when he gets a bit less able-bodied I will need a longer ramp so it is not so steep.

  • Solvit Ultralite Bi-fold Pet Ramp

I too needed a ramp for my 8 ½ year old West Highland White Terrier, because he started to have a difficult time jumping up and onto his favorite chair in order to get onto the bed. I had performed some diligent research to see what type of ramps were available and which would work best for him and eventually decided upon the ‘Solvit Ultralite Bi-fold Ramp’. The price was right and the ramp is the perfectly size - approx. 61” long x 13.5” wide (working area). This ramp is lightweight (under 20 lbs.), yet more than strong enough to carry his muscular body weight (supports up to 200 lbs.). The ramp’s 4” side bolsters are tall enough to keep him secure and the anti-slip (sandpaper-type) traction coating surface ensures that his paws won’t slip on his way up and down the ramp. Since ...

  • Outstanding product!

My sister has a small Sheltie that was having difficulty going up and down the stairs to go outside to potty. She is 12 years old now and getting frail. This product was just the right size for her to navigate. We followed the instructions and laid the unit flat on the ground first to get her used to the feel of the surface. We gave her high value treats while we led her across 3x. Then we put the unit on the stairs and had her on leash guiding her up and down. Again, with a high value treat! She took to it immediately! The best part is the unit is heavy and she is so light, about 22 lbs. so no need to anchor it at all. Love this product and the price too!

  • A reasonable and effective solution

We have used one of these ramps to load our 110 lb yellow lab into our high pickup. The one feature I would like to see improved is the covering on the ramp which is a rather tough (but not quite tough enough) glued sand paper. The paper gives the dog grip, but, esp with a large, heavy dog, does tear in time. Better would be a permanent rough surface molded into the plastic base. But, it did a good job giving our large lab ingress and egress to our pickup. For a smaller dog, the thick sandy paper would probably be just fine.
