  • Bloodthirsty fantasy of the highest order

I have always had a soft spot for fantasy, and up until reading this and its sequels I would have cited "Lord of the Rings" as my favourite, many other fantasy novels being highly derivative. In fact over the last few years I had grown tired of trying to find stimulating new fantasy fiction, and believe me I've been through the majority of authors in this genre. There are standouts (Raymond Feist's "Magician" for example) but precious few that are a genuine breath of fresh air. • It's a great book that doesn't take long to hook you.

It was so good...immediately upon finishing the book had to get the second one. I like the way the story is written. You're able to see what's going on through several view points and not just one person's. The book was incredible. My brother told me I needed to read it and I've let my friend borrow it. I would recommend this book to anyone.
