Not just for leather bicycle saddles
I bought my first Brooks Leather B17 Competition Saddle in 1974 for my brand new St. Etienne 10 Speed bike that came from the factory with a hard plastic racing saddle. I purchased a Brooks Leather Saddle, because that was what the pro racers used on the circuit, and because it was standard equipment on Raleigh and other high quality English bikes and the Schwinn Professional bikes of the day. When I paid my $29 for the saddle, the dealer also recommended the Proofide to keep it soft and supple, and to help with the initial saddle break in. (The fact that a leather saddle shapes itself to your gluteus maximus, rather than your glutes wrapping around a rigid plastic or vinyl saddle, is what turned me into a die hard cyclist in the 1970s-early 2000's.) I rode that saddle for tens of ... I rode that saddle for tens of thousands of miles around northern Ohio on 2 different bikes, until the custom Super Vitus 971 SL frameset I built into into a 19 3/4# high performance road bike with Campy gears, fitted Colnago bars and stem, and Campy hubs and Mavic Rims with tubular sew up tires, was stolen in 1996. I replaced the stolen bike with a similar vintage 1974 Holdsworth 10 speed, also all Campy with sew ups, and replaced the rigid vinyl French racing saddle with a Brown leather Brooks Professional Saddle. Again, Brooks Proofide was always on hand to treat the saddle for initial break in, and to moisturize the saddle whenever it got wet, and I cleaned it with saddle soap. I also have used the Proofide to treat and condition all of my leather goods, including Law Enforcement gunleather when I was a Peace Officer in Ohio for a couple of decades and a competitive PPC shooter. I continue to use it on my waist belts and daily carry concealed holsters. Sadly, a stroke 5 years ago left me without enough balance to ride 2 wheelers anymore (bicycles or motorcycles), and I now ride a Worksman 3 speed, 3 wheeled, pedal trike instead of high end, 2 wheel, 10 speeds. I even use it on my Lucchese Cowboy Boots whenever they get wet! The secret recipe of natural oils and Carnauba Wax make Proofide the best leather conditioner I have used in 45 years, and continue to use on my leatherwork projects, both before stitching, and afterwards. I highly recommend this product for all vegetable tanned leather goods, and even lesser quality leather, as it will restore suppleness and keep leather from drying out and cracking during regular use and storage. You will not be disappointed!

Brooks specifies this product for their bicycle saddles. In my experience, it is the best treatment for my two Brooks Professional saddles, no denying it. Dip a pinch on your finger and spread it over the saddle surface. It smells great & you can watch it work its wonders, soaking into the leather.
