    Superlative Compromise!!

    Computer speed is today's Holy Grail, and anything to achieve speed is eagerly sought. High speed CPU, high speed video and GPU, high speed storage...all necessary for a fast system. Unfortunately, high speed storage (solid state drives) cost a minor fortune per Megabyte of storage. 7200 RPM drives don't cut the mustard for speed (but sure are cheaper than SSD's) Velociraptor drives from Western Digital are exceptionally reliable, cheaper per Megabyte than SSD's., faster than "standard 7200 RPM drives (Velocirapter's spin at 10,000RPM), and are a perfect compromise for someone who wants high speed storage at a middle class salary.

    Nice drive

    This is a nice small form factor desktop hard drive. I've been using it for about a week now and so far so good. The drive is fast and pretty quiet and for the price it will be hard to beat in the 1TB range. Now for the test of time....................................

    Fast for a disk

    I have used this type of disk for many years and never have had a problem. It is fast for a disk but there is no limit to the number of writes like SSD. It does run hot so some type of cooling is needed, like a small fan.

    Reliability still a question.

    Using it externally in a dock, I believe it's quicker and at least as quiet as the standard black WD. As for reliability, only been 2wks but so far I am impressed. I'll probably get 3 more I think they'll make a solid raid
