Today its message has grown more relevant than ever before. Guy Montag is a fireman. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family." But when he meets an eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a past where people didn't live in fear and to a present where one sees the world through the ideas in books instead of the mindless chatter of television, Montag begins to question everything he has ever known., NOW AN HBO FILM STARRING MICHAEL B. Hello, thank you for leaving a comment. It will be a pleasure to do business with you again. Being a seller, we cannot control United States Postal Services raising prices every year, As a seller I know we are taking a hit of the cost with shipping and weight. And since it was a big gaming book I shipped it in a lovely thick envelope to cover size a taped it down securely to the book. My items that are more fragile will secured/wrapped accordingly. Thank you feel free to shop again.

Book looks great, though the cover top is a bit ripped. It looks like someone's study book as there are highlights and post-it notes in it. It still readable. I didn't have a copy of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury so I bought this one. I believe I listened to the audio book before but didn't have the book. It's been years since I listened to the audio book so it'd be a refresher to read it. Thanks.

    Fahrenheit 451 - Doesn't Bring the Heat

I came back to this book after a few years from high school. The book is more or less a compilation of speeches to bring about the theme of the book with a few action scenes to fill it out. Somehow the idea of censorship is always discussed but that's only scratching the surface of the novel. Many points are missed, like the idea of unrestrained consumption of commodities without a second thought to the labor behind the work. Read it or not - no one will really dig deeper than the censorship theme.

  • High School Reading as an Adult

This was one of those novels other people were assigned to read in high school but I never received that assignment. I often wondered about the references I heard as an adult and decided I should read it. It's a quick read but interesting especially when you consider when the book was published (1953) and Ray Bradbury's vision of the future. I'm not going to give a verbose review on it but say that if you're interested in classic American sci-fi literature, you should put this one on your list of books to read. There are reasons why this book was assigned reading for many high school students but I doubt many of them really appreciated it.

I stopped reading it because it was too strange. But I could tell that it was a good book for more modern reader. Agatha Christie is more my speed. I've gotten all of the agatha books on EBAY that I can. do you have any more suggestions?
