Reviews
?Invisible Monsters could scare the tights off the ratings board.... A wildly plotted, quick-read showcase of his hip, perverse humor and dark imagination., A harrowing, perverse, laugh-aloud funny rocket ride of catastrophes.... Gutsy, terse, and cunning, ?Invisible Monsters ?may emerge as Palahniuk's strongest book., Fast-paced.... Everyone wants to be someone else, and in this hilarious book, they get the chance., Palahniuk is either crazy or genius--his wildly inventive plotlines are from so far left field they might as well be lobbed from outer space; his language is quick and clever and impossibly honest and nasty (serrated, not graphic); his style--this time jumping through logical time like a nervous whippet--breaks all rules and conventions, like he never even learned them.... Invisible Monsters ?is a soap opera wrapped in a mystery; an enigma swaddled in a Bret Easton Ellis nightmare., Chuck Palahniuk's stories don't unfold. They hurtle headlong, changing lanes in threes and banging off the guard rails of modern fiction. This time he has really done it. ?Invisible Monsters? makes... ?Fight Club'... seem like a leisurely buggy ride.

Synopsis
Love, betrayal, petty larceny, and high fashion fuel this deliciously comic novel from the author of Fight Club., She's a fashion model who has everything: a boyfriend, a career, a loyal best friend. But when a sudden freeway "accident" leaves her disfigured and incapable of speech, she goes from being the beautiful center of attention to being an invisible monster, so hideous that no one will acknowledge that she exists. Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, one operation away from becoming a real woman, who will teach her that reinventing yourself means erasing your past and making up something better. And that salvation hides in the last places you'll ever want to look.

      Overall good quality

Pages are in great condition, as is the binding. However, the cover of the book is dirty. It is as though it fell into a puddle and the muddy water dried on the cover. I did my best to clean it, but still you can tell it is dirty. It is a gift for my 16 year old daughter who loves used books, so she will likely appreciate that aspect of it lol. If I had bought for someone else, this would have likely been an issue for me though. For 'very good' condition, I wouldn't expect that. I do wish the description would have been a bit clearer.

    • Interesting

This was an interesting book. It definitely kept you on your toes and hit you with some unexpected twists. The plot is certainly unique, as are the characters. My biggest complaint is that the author does not have a good grasp on writing a female voice. The main character, the first person voice in this book, is supposed to be a very feminine beauty queen, but I simply could not picture her this way because her inner voice sounded so male to me. It made her seem too tough, not fragile enough. This worked better for some of the other female characters, though I won't say why and spoil some plot points for those who haven't read it. I wanted more femininity from the main character, though. Overall, though, I liked the book. I couldn't find it in any library, so buying it on Half is ...

    • To Love

Invisible Monsters is a very fast and easy read. It is entertaining and interesting. I personally had a hard time 'relating' to it, if that's the right word. But I still enjoyed it and would recommend it. The plot is not what I would have expected, but that seems to be a trend I have with any Palahniuk book! It is a fun adventure set in a world that is so vibrant and real. Chuck's writing style is so natural I think he could write about anything and it would be worth your time to read.

    • Great Read

One of my friends recommended reading the "Chuck" books. So I decided to start out with Invisible Monsters. The book was a great read from beginning to end. Sometimes it was difficult to understand because the book jumps around. Though once you continue reading all the little parts tie in together. The story in itself is a little strange, but what do you expect from the author of "Fight Club". Excellent book.

    • VERY Very weird. Awesome.

My favorite book. My favorite author.
