About this product

Product Information

Imagine perspective without pain--no T-squares, complicated equations or mechanical terms--just simple instructions and hands-on exercises to teach you how to create a sense of depth in your drawings and paintings. Now go a step further--imagine having fun with perspective. With this book, you will. Here Phil Metzger give you clear-cut guidelines in everyday terms--with a lot of friendliness and a little humor tossed in along the way. As an experienced artist, he understands how you work, and he knows that the last thing you need is a lot of rigid rules to tie you down. Here you'll learn techniques of perspective that will help your creativity--not hinder it. You'll learn how to: Achieve the illusion of depth by gradually diminishing the sizes of--and the distance between--similar objects Use soft edged and less detail on objects in the background to make them seem farther away Introduce depth simply by manipulating color and value Draw from any viewpoint--on either side, above or below Draw accurate angles without complicated measuring devices Use perspective to track down the problem when something you've drawn just doesn't look right Measures relative sizes and add the details that make the difference between a convincing pictures and an awkward one Properly draw roads, paths, streets, fields and streams to suggest depth in a scene and to describe the flatness or hilliness of a landscape.

  • For the perspective-impaired art students. Go from C- to A+ drawings.

This book is for the perspective impaired artist. that means does who knows how to draw but need some help with 3D imaging drawing. The author shows how to draw the lines to give that perfect look. You will need to practice but now you will learn what to practice, giving you a Step-by-Step approach. Difficult concepts made easy to understand plus there are examples and explanations through out the book that are easy to follow. Perfect for artist who want to know how it is done! I highly recommend this book to art students

  • Useful book

So the last time I took drawing classes was 20 years ago. I am trying to draw a comic book for an idea that I have. There are basically three things that you need to know to draw comics. 1st to be able to draw people..I can do that. 2nd is to draw foreshortening..i.e. bringing items closer to you or farther depending on their relation. and 3rd to draw backgrounds. For the second and third things I have bought this book on perspective..in fact I`ve bought many books on the subject. This is a very good book and hopefully it will help me in my development on my comic book. This is why I bought it and why I`m using it, If anyone is in my kinda situation or thinking about creating a comic then the lessons in this book is a good start.

  • Perspective Without Pain - High Quality Book

I purchased this book with the purpose of self teaching the art guidelines. I am extremely impress at the quality of the book and the clear and concise manner in which the content was presented, making it easier for me to learn the art of perspective in my drawings and paintings. Now that I'm finished reading the book, I use it as a reference reading. I highly recommend it.

  • Great book
