Reviews
No one writes better detective novels. . .A creator of muscular, violent, headlong stories that honor and at the same time expand conventions of the form. . .Truly astonishing., The plotting is intricate and the action is robust. . .Burke creates rich, complicated characters and treats them with tremendous compassion. And he fashions passages of prose as haunting as any writer at work in America today., For grand escape, get your hands on A MORNING FOR FLAMINGOS. Burke is one of the most polished mystery novelists alive; his hero, Cajun detective Dave Robicheaux, is as ripe and as real as they get. . .The man can write.

  • I highly recommend A Morning For Flamingos and James Lee Burke's books.

I was searching for flamingo yard art after reading about it in TIME magazine. This book title came up. I researched James Lee Burke and as a result of reviews purchased all his books on eBay and Amazon. I am now a real fan of Burke. What a great writer. I have read 6 of his more than 25 novels. He is still writing at 72. He has won several Edgar writing awards.

  • One of Burke's finest thrillers

This book is a real page-turner. It is one of Burke's early Dave Robicheaux novels and is one of his finest. I have read most, if not all of his novels. His descriptive writing in this book does not disappoint. All the characters are here--an evil and very threatening villan, and, of couse, Clete Purcel, who is at his most irreverent and roughhouse best. I highly recommend this book.

  • Burke book

Just another great J L Burke book.
