  • Well I be another Stephen King adaptation done right

She can't (and won't) drive 55.... Stephen King's novel about the twisted love affair between a boy and his car gets transferred to the screen, courtesy of suspense master John Carpenter. Although lacking some of the more outré supernatural elements of the source material, this high-octane cinematic tune-up more than delivers the goods, horror-wise (Christine's midnight rampages will never be forgotten)--as well as being a sly exposé of the random cruelties within the high-school pecking order. Keith Gordon (who has gone on to become a stellar director in his own right, with films such as A Midnight Clear and Mother Night to his credit) gives a wonderfully controlled central performance. Keith Gordon makes the most of the lead role as the nerdy Arnie who quickly ...

  • alright, "SHOW ME" (but make sure it is the Spec. Ed.)!

Heya, BUY THE SPECIAL EDITION because it is what brought me back to why I liked the movie in the first place and some attention to the story and how they created the special effects. I think they had, like 20 or something 1959 Plymouth Furys (???) and one car was set to drive by itself...another to be set on fire...one that was chock full of hydro pumps to simulate Christine "fixing herself" You get the point: the SE copy has three featurettes and a commentary with Keith Gordon...actor...am I right? Also, to remember the 80's take a moment to count how many times they curse and use profanity, 'cause if you blink you'll miss something! Enjoy, and hey...one good thing about having a car be your woman (compared to an actual woman) is that the cars is ...

  • Is The Car Obsessed With Arnie, Or Vice Versa?

Have you ever known a man who named his car and was convinced 'She'(the car) has opinions and beliefs? Probably you'll never know someone so obsessed. But what if someone had a car that really did have opinions? And what if the car got jealous? Christine is a well-thought-out tale of a car/lonely boy relationship. The car (Christine) is a jealous lover. For it's time, this film has some good effects. This is also one of the Stephen King books that translated well into a film, and stuck close to the original. Christine will also make you look at cars in a whole new way- can a car be evil?
