About this product

Product Information

#1 New York Times bestseller with more than 11 million copies sold! When 4-year-old Colton Burpo emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven, his family doesn't know what to believe. Heaven is For Real details what Colton saw and his family's journey towards accepting their young son had visited the afterlife. "Do you remember the hospital, Colton" Sonja said. "Yes, mommy, I remember," he said. "That's where the angels sang to me." Colton told his parents he left his body during an emergency surgery-and proved that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital during his operation. He talked of visiting heaven and described events that happened before he was born and how he spoke with family members he'd never met. Colton also astonished his parents with descriptions and obscure details about heaven that matched the Bible exactly, even though he had not yet learned to read. With disarming innocence and the plainspoken boldness of a child, Colton recounts his visit to heaven, describing: Meeting long-departed family members Jesus, the angels, how "really, really big" God is, and how much God loves us How Jesus called Todd, Colton's father, to be a pastor The Battle of Armageddon Retold by his father, but using Colton's uniquely simple words, Heaven Is for Real offers a glimpse of the world that awaits us, where as Colton says, "Nobody is old and nobody wears glasses." Heaven Is for Real will forever change the way you think of eternity, offering the chance to see, and believe, like a child. Praise for Heaven is for Real: "A beautifully written glimpse into heaven that will encourage those who doubt and thrill those who believe." --Ron Hall, coauthor of Same Kind of Different as Me

I bought the book and the movie, but haven't as yet watched the movie. The book is a 'can't put down' type of offering, with short chapters that are to-the-point of what young Colton experienced during his crisis, and it's very well written. It's a must for anyone who 'wants to believe.'

    Heaven is For Real

This is a wonderful little book. The first one I bought was at a Pharmacy gift shop, in the building where my daughter had a Drs appointment. I was reading the book while she was with the Dr. I believe in the afterlife and I have heard many stories. This was thru the eyes if an innocent 3 year old who gives uhs a small glimpse of how heaven will be.I have bought several of these books to give away as a witness. It helps one to understand. How God works in our life, and gives us hope of another world. And how wonderful that will be

  • Young Child's Account of Out-of-Body Experience

There are many excellent books describing near death experiences. This one is exceptional for two reasons: the child who had the experience was only three years old when it happened, and four when he began to describe his "trip to heaven." The other unusual factor is that his father, who wrote the book is a devout Christian minister, but does not allow his beliefs to make make his story heavy-handed. I am not traditionally Christian, but I very much enjoyed this book.

  • To Heaven and Back, a little boy's journey.

A poignant story of a little 4 yr. old boy who died during surgery and claimed to have visited Heaven. An inspirational story from a child's point of view. A very fast read, only 150 pages, read it in a few hours. I would have really enjoyed the book much more if it was just about Colton's experiences. (But that probably would have dropped it down to 20 pages). Didn't need to hear about the father and his soccer team and all his aches and pains, and what debt he has. I didn't feel it was relevant to the story. Felt he was too whinny, and the only person in the world to have bill problems. I also started to lose interest when everytime Colton would remember something from Heaven, the father would quote a verse from the scriptures. Could have done without that. I am ...

  • Heaven told through the Innocence of a Child

This book is hard to put down once you start reading. The things Colton saw in Heaven will open your eyes to how it will be when we get there. He meets his great grandfather along with a sister he knew nothing about. For parents who have lost their children, from a miscarriage to an early death, they are in Heaven waiting for us. Our son died at the age of 20 and is still aging in Heaven until the age of 30. No one in Heaven is old and no one wears glasses. May God open your eyes to the truth as you read this book.

  • Heaven is for Real is a wonderful read for believers and non believers

I recently read Heaven is for Real and like other reviews I have read, it really was hard to put it down. I read it in two sittings. It really is a sweet story about a 3 (going on 4) year old boy's (near death?) experience of a few minutes in heaven and the people and things he saw. Granted his father is a pastor but he didn't seem to lead him into answering questions and the answers the boy gave really did seem the way a 3 year old would describe heaven. Even though I am already a believer, some of the things he described are already things I suspected but didn't have "Biblical" proof of. It gives a lot of comfort to think God does on occasion give certain people glimpses of the the wonderful life we have waiting for us when this one is over.
