  • A QUALITY CLOSE-UP LENS AT A GOOD PRICE

Despite its misnomer moniker, the Optika 10X Macro Lens (really a 10dpt close-up filter) is an impressive piece of glass. It is an achromatic optic with a slight blue coating, solidly mounted in an alloy barrel. Its focal length measures around 95mm, putting it at 10.5 diopters, and it weighs 3.3oz. It came with two step-up rings (40.5-58 & 49-58), a vinyl bag, caps and a lens cloth. It has 58mm mounting threads and accepts 58mm filters on front. Purchased for use with the Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens, I found the best results were at f/8 when zoomed to 36mm, where it is sharpest. The strongest magnification is at the long end of the zoom, and although good, not quite as sharp at 50mm, and on the short end is pincushion distortion, most noticeable at 16mm. So the sweet spot is at ...

  • Great product for the money, try it!

If you're getting into Macro or curious about it give this lens a shot first. Impressed with the quality of the product as well as the quality of the images it takes. Be warned, the focus area is very small but if you use the lens as intended you will get some really good pics. You will be on your elbows and knees but again that's what makes it fun. You can get entire very small insects in focus but larger insects maybe just the head and partial legs/back/wings. Pointing straight down is your best bet for a full focus, going at an angle will yield tricky to focus on much. Straight on with an insect will give you a clear picture of their face and head, similar to pointing straight down. The smaller the subject the more of it you will get in focus. See some attached pics taken with this on a ...
