This is a great game. The best part about this game is if you're lucky enough to get bo Jackson you will score a touchdown every time. This game is a must have for anybody that loves football or just great Nintendo games

I must have been seven or eight years old when i first got my hands on this great game. I remember it being the first and forever best football game i ever played. There was just something about the game play. Maybe it was the simplicity of it. Maybe it was destroying opposing teams with a score of 107 to nothing. maybe it was the 100 yard pass and rushing plays i used to bust out. Throughout my childhood i must have traded this game for sport cards or sold it, all i know was i had to get my hands back on it. And now that i got it i cant stop playing. Its great to see the names of some of the old sports greats back on the field. oh, how i love it! Oh! and not to leave out the cute cheerleaders during the halftime show. After seeing them i always did better the second half. Its amazing what a woman can do. Anyways, get this game. its a great. it may not have the graphics of a newer console game but it has what us old school gamers love, Good solid gameplay and hours of nonstop fun.Read full review
Before Tecmo Bowl debuted for the Original Nintendo Entertainment System, we have been plagued by crappy football titles that were slow, clunky and boring. That all changed in 1989, when Tecmo released Tecmo Bowl for the NES. This was the first game to have featured REAL NFL players from 12 NFL Cities (Indianapolis, Miami, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Washington, Dallas, Minnesota, Cleveland and Denver) and the first one to have animations (players high-fiving each other after a touchdown). The best teams in the game are Los Angeles (with their rushing duo named Bo "Tecmo Bo" Jackson and Marcus Allen) San Francisco (led by Joe Montana and Jerry Rice), Chicago (with Walter Payton and Mike Singletary) and New York (led by Lawrence Taylor, who blocks every field goal with every chance he gets). This game has great gameplay, awesome 8-bit sound effects, along with the excellent 8-bit graphics (for its time) and catchy music. I would definitely recommend this to EVERY OWNER for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I would even recommend this great game over ANY Madden game. Why pay $60 a year for just a roster update with very minimal changes, when you can spend less than $10 on a stellar football game that will keep you entertained for hours on end.Read full review
Tecmo Bowl was a pioneer of modern sports video games. It's a must have for any sports or video game enthusiast. Admittedly, the game play is somewhat limited, but keep in mind it's one of the first of it's kind in this genre. It's a classic that I highly recommend. Quintessential NES.

I'm not very good with all of the controls for the Madden NFL video games. This one is simple and fun, even when I lose.
