John Deere should be taken to court over these palstic hoods because as they age they become brittle. To replace them is more than many of the mowers they are on are worth. It is a poor design but this replacement hood worked well. It was not cheap but there is no alternative. It came well packaged and was easy to install.

john Deere needs to revamp this hood hinge area. It is poorly made from plastic and succumbs to heat and stress of it's own weight. This new hood section I bought for $ 350.00 lasted only 2 mowings on a 1/2 acre flat yard, before it snapped off at the hinges when I checked the oil. I now have 2 broken hoods. I've tried " repair kits", both types and they are a $25 rip off. The hood just breaks in another spot. You would think a $4500.00 mower would be better made. John Deere is a good name brand with cheap, flimsy plastic bodies and the replacement parts are even cheaper and totally out of reason in cost. I guess I'll use this mower with no hood or bumper, looks awful, but still mows ( for now )
