About this product

Product Information

Based on the true-life exploits of notorious Depression-era bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, BONNIE AND CLYDE is recognized as one of the most violent films to come out of mainstream Hollywood. Bonnie (Faye Dunaway) is bored with life and wants a change. She gets her chance when she meets a charming young drifter by the name of Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty). Clyde has dreams of a life of crime that will free him from the hardships of the Depression. The two fall in love and begin a crime spree that extends from Oklahoma to Texas. They rob small banks with skill and panache, soon becoming minor celebrities known across the country. People are proud to have been held up by Bonnie and Clyde; to their victims, the duo is doing what nobody else has the guts to do. To the law, the two are evil bank robbers who deserve to be gunned down where they stand. Beatty and Dunaway are marvelous as the young criminal lovers, delivering subtle and complete performances. Also excellent are Gene Hackman as Clyde's brother, Buck; Estelle Parsons as Buck's wife, Blanche; and the always enjoyable Michael J. Pollard as C.W. Moss. The film has made a large impact on American culture, expressing the mood of rebellion rampant in the late 1960s and beyond.

    Very action packed!

Yes, I reallly enjoyed Bonnie and Clyde, I sent fora copy of this movie, because I am currently Taking an American Film and culture Coarse at OCC (Onondaga Community College) and it was a required film that i had to watch, and analyse. We had quite a class discussion on the time period as well as the style of the movie. The Movie and characters were quite entertaining.

  • Top critical review

    Historically inaccurate .

Bought it to watch again because I had read that the portrayal of Frank Hamer was borderline defamatory . That turned out to be true the way they portrayed one of the greatest Texas Rangers . Warren Beatty's acting at high school level .

  • Bonnie and Clyde - Two People Run Amock!!

Like, this was a real good movie, not excellent, but better than just good. The acting, the screenplay, the storyline, it was all real quality stuff. This guy, like, Warren Beatty, he plays the Clyde role real well, like he's some kind of upstart or something, just like the real Clyde was. And Faye Dunaway plays the babydoll, Bonnie Parker. She gets down, makin it happen, anyway she meets Clyde and it isn't long before they be raising cain. One thing, having Gene Hackman play Clyde's brother, like, no way could Warren beatty's brother be Gene Hackman. Anyway, Bonnie and Clyde meet, and race across the countryside, robbing banks and shooting people up during the Depression era. It was all just like how it all really went down, like in real life. And the Michael Pollard guy, his ...

  • Beatty & Dunaway are excellent--the movie is very entertaining! Four stars!

I had seen this movie years ago, probably at the theater when it came out and remembered enjoying it. As an avid reader of true crime books & bios, and having just finished a bio on Bonnie & Clyde, I thought I'd enjoy watching the movie again. My winning bid made it possible to actually own it (the price was right!). I watched it the night I received it and again enjoyed it. Beatty & Dunaway are both excellent in their roles, the movie is entertaining and the action scenes (for their day) were very good. However, you must realize that this is a movie and not the true story of two of the eras most daring robbers. For that get the book. Would I watch it again, probably in a year or two. I have also let my friends borrow it and they also enjoyed it. I recommend the movie and gave it four ...

  • A fabulous use of all film-making techinques

Bonnie and Clyde is a classic movie from the 1960s that reflects the time period in its plot and it's aura. Throughout the film, Bonnie, Clyde and their gang fight to break free from the expectations, limitations and ideals that their parents generation pushed on them. As a result, it emulates the way youth grew up and thought during the 60s - very rebelliously. The film itself is a push away from the happy-go-lucky films which had come before it, similarly rebelling against conventional film storylines. The film is thought-provoking and offers insight into the way of life during the 60s. Besides this, the acting is spectacular (Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty SHINE in their roles as Bonnie and Clyde) and the cinematography, direction and editing emphasize the message of each story ...
