If you need a modem for a Mac, this would be the one.

  • DialUp & FAX on a Beautiful Apple Gadget- or not, if you have 64 bit Intel!

This is a great Modem that would be a fine choice for a backup. Nowadays most places have DSL, WiFi, Wimax, or 3/4g but still a dial-up modem would be good to have on hand for faxing and that odd emergency when you really need a connection. The form-factor could not be simpler- a USB dongle with software already installed. Unfortunately, there is an issue with newer MACs. This should work fine with PowerPC Macs, the 64 bit Intel Macs will likely get a message "This accessory is no longer supported". It appears that some older Intels can be restarted in 32 bit mode- and allow the use of this nifty gadget- If you have the latest Intel maybe not- if the software isn't onboard it still would not work. That is a shame because then you'd have to use a clunky outboard USB modem with it's own ...

  • This is a necessary item for older Mac computers

I bought this Apple USB port modem to use on an older Mac Book because the new iMac cannot running the new OS 10.7 (Lyon) cannot send faxes using a plug in modem. Thus when I need to send a fax, instead of looking for an actual fax machine, I just plug in this modem into my older Mac Book and fax my material. It's a same that this was done away with the new Mac OS operating system, but that's progress. We no longer usually send Faxes, since sending PDF files via e-mail works just as well, but for those old folks who have to use a Fax, this works just fine.

  • Plug and play Apple modem

I like the fact that using this out of its packaging took me about 5 minutes. I was able to connect to my ISP server on the other side of the world just like that. I wish my MacBook Pro had an internal modem so I didn't need to purchase an external modem but what do you do? I only need to dial in to get connected to the internet when I travel to a remote area where there are no other services. Would recommend to everyone who may need the old phone lines once on a while. Great product.

  • Great Product!

This product was perfect. I received it, plugged it in, set it up in system preferences, and 3 minutes later, here I am using the modem to write this review. Great, quality product, easy and fast to use and set up. I am using it on the new generation white unibody macbook. Highly recommended.
