About this product

Product Information

One of the few genuinely suspenseful games of the era, Hunt the Wumpus is a thoroughly original creation in which players must shoot the strangely named title character, who lurks somewhere deep within a maze of caverns (16, 24 or 32) and twisting tunnels. Certain caverns contain bats, which help protect the Wumpus by sending players to a random location. Others contain bloodspots, which indicate the creature is nearby. Players are armed with a single arrow and will lose the game if they enter the beast's cavern, fall into a slime pit or fire the arrow into the wrong cave. The strength of the game lies in the suspense of not knowing what comes next from cavern to cavern. However, the basic action is not enjoyable enough to warrant extended play.
