    Very nicely produced book!

    Pages of full color plates illustrating the work of a innovative Southern Californian artist I had never heard of before! I have long been a fan of woodblock artists like William S. Rice, Gustave Baumann and Norma Bassett Hall, but had never been exposed to the work of Frances Gearhart. I really enjoy the way she printed her background areas more faintly; this achieved a depth through the use of atmospheric perspective that is usually not found in woodblock prints, which tend to be rather flat in appearance.
