I bought the camera for the power supply only. The camera was a bonus. It plays my movies so I assume it will record also. It is just like my original camera. If you want a sturdy camera for basic home movies than this is it. Defective operation
On most occasions the camera doesn't operate with either a fully charged battery or the A/C connection. On the few occasions when it is "operational" the tape cassette compartment only opens sporadically. For the most part it doesn't open when the slide mechanism is activated. Bought item as a backup unit for playing many home movies, vacations etc..

A waste of money
