Don't really remember if it stated that it would use AAA batteries or not, so that's on me, but the one complaint that I do have is the packaging for shipping could be a little bit better. I am genuinely surprised that there was absolutely no damage to the controllers. Splurge the extra dollar and put them inside of a box please, the buyer will gladly pay for that $1 box lol
