  • Monopod swirls when attached to the locking base

I just wanted something cheap but usable. The manfrotto monopod has irregular screws at the bottom so unless you get a set, you can't use third party bases. This does have standard base but the locking lug at the bottom tightens the opposite direction the monopod tightens to the base so when you tighten one, it only tightens so far before starting to loosen the other. It still works but it means the monopod can swivel without truly locking into place. The base isn't nearly wide enough to hold a camera on its own. Granted, I don't believe it's designed to do that, but unless you're gripping it, the setup still wobbles. Tilting a 3 pound camera a little is enough to seriously destabilize the monopod. If I had to do it again, I'd look for a different monopod and get a different base as well (my minitripod with telescoping legs could be attached and provides much better stability).

  • Benro Monopod

A great little monopod for the money. Using it for the Theta Z1. It gets a little unstable when opened all the way but I bought a 24 oz donut that fits a baseball bat and it work perfectly for my application.
