If you are an "Our Gang" fan, you might want this collection to complete the Our Gang episodes. Otherwise, don't bother.
There is nothing that could make it better. The Our Gang were dropped by Hal Roach, the creator of the group and gave artistic freedom to the cast. MGM bought the series and the title "Our Gang" from Roach after he was through and had a different attitude towards the production. Gone was the artistic freedom which contributed so much to the charm and humor of the shorts. Everyone had to take the scripts and do it MGM's way with no exceptions (same thing happened when Laurel & Hardy went to MGM as well as the Marx Brothers). To make matters worse, MGM cut back the two-reeler (20 minutes) to just one reel (10 minutes). The Our Gang continued to make episodes until 1944. Most of them are unfunny and not worth the time. When the kids were shown on television (the Roach series) the Roach studios could not use the title "Our Gang" as the rights were sold to MGM - so the new title "The Little Rascals" came into being and the group is known by both names, mostly the latter because of television.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Our Gang can be Your Gang!!!
Finally available on DVD, the long elusive "Our Gang" comedies....or The Little Rascals Grow Up. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these classic comedies when they were broadcast on TNT a number of years back and often wondered why they were never released on DVD, as the original Little Rascal comedies were. I enjoyed seeing the various episodes with the old standbys: Spanky, Alfalfa, Darla, Porky, Buckwheat, Butch and Woim, along with the new additions to the group: Froggy, the one with the coke-bottle glasses and gravel-voice, and Mickey Gubatosi, the short adorable kid who the world would know later as Robert Blake (Baretta). This collection is a "must have" for all those who would like to re-live, or for the first time experience, the further adventures of the kids that made getting into trouble look like so much fun. The DVD set's video presentation is top notch. The menu is simple and easy to navigate, and the sound quality is superb. This set is a prime example of what nostalgia is all about!! Great Fun For All Ages
Although the writing and acting isn't of the same quality as the earlier "Our Gang" shorts from the silent era to 1938, there are still some good laughs and memorable moments in these later shorts from 1938 to 1942. These are the shorts that were seldom shown on television and feature such new characters as Mickey, Froggy, and Janet Burston.
