Head Unit is GREAT, but not so much the GPS

I replaced an older F900BT with this newer X920BT and ended up selling the X920BT and reinstalling the F900BT. The X920BT is a much nicer looking HU than the F900BT and the radio was great. But Pioneer replaced the old iGO based map software in the newer HU with one that didn't work as well, of course, that's just my opinion. I just like the way the older iGO based map software worked, it was more informative and looks better, but maybe that's just because I am accustom to using it. I did try the GPS on the X920BT but was never happy with it. So no, I can't recommend it if the GPS is a primary concern. If not, then YES I would recommend it if music entertainment is your primary goal.

  • Good deck but overpriced

I have a 2006 Escalade ESV and needed to update my Nav system. A new CD from the dealer costs $800; so I invested in a Pioneer AVIC-X920BT. First of all, most of the fitment guides are not exactly accurate. If you’re handy with tools and have a little common sense, all you have to do is buy a $15 install kit and use a cutting wheel to remove some of the black plastic inside the radio compartment. Lastly, if you want better sound quality, get an amp, subwoofer, ground loop isolator and make sure you ground it well! PROS: Lots of features Great graphics Easy to install DVD quality is fantastic Allows you to use keep steering wheel controls (interface sold seperately) Various EQ options; all customizable User friendly CONS: Over priced No “detour” function en route (should a road be ...

  • Great But a Few Disappointments

Just had this new Pioneer unit installed. I replaced another AVIC D2 Pioneer system. I do like the new unit but there are a few things that I'm disappointed with when I compare this new unit to the old one I had. First the screen is noticeably smaller then the older one. Much more then I realized. I never saw it in person before I purchased it. Next the map graphics in comparison are not as vidid or clear. Also the map looks plain and not as much detail. I'm surprised that a unit at least 5 years newer would not be as good if not better in these things then the older one? As far as the features so far i'm pretty happy. The bluetooth, ipod, and DVD features work great. I'm still learning more of the features. At least I got almost half off the retail price so if in the future ...

  • Nice, but some features wont work soon because MSN is stopping it

It's a great stereo, but i cant get the backup camera to work... also.... MSN live links doesn't work on it after 2011, so all the cool features will no longer be available. LAME... Navigation is awesome espically for freeway driving, but typing on the on screen keyboard takes some getting use to. Bluetooth sounds great!

  • Good bang for the buck, great A/V system with a basic navigation system.

This unit is an AV system first with navigation added on as a perk. The voice command navigation feature is a bit of a novelty item and has limited useability. Ultimately, you will have to look at the screen occasionally when navigating because turn-by-turn directions are not very detailed. This unit is a great choice for a full-featured audio/video entertainment system and a back-up navigation system in an SUV or van. This is not suited well to larger vehicles such as RVs or busses however, where completely hands-free and eyes-free navigation is desired.
