NOTICE! This device is not recommended for do it yourself. If you are not comfortable with setting up Wi-Fi devices then seek assistance from someone that is experienced. I bought this device in hopes of connecting my Blu-ray player to my network. The Player has a standard RJ47 LAN socket and my network is Wi-Fi. The TEW-714 seemed to be the just ticket. On arrival the device came with 3 international AC plug adapters and a SHORT RJ45 cable. There was also a manual included (printed and on CD). The 7 language manual measured about 5" (12.5 cm) square To fit the packaging. The manual was printed in very small type and was poorly written. On the device there is a removable sticker with some important information. DO NOT LOSE THIS! On the sticker is a removable label that has the WI-Fi / SSID , The WI-Fi Key, Management Login, username, password and MAC address. I placed this label on the CD manual sleeve and also saved the information in a text file on my PC. This is important because you will need this information to operate it On the front of the device is a power on light. When it is red the device is on and booting up. When it is flashing amber it trying to connect to the network. When it is green you are connected to the network. On the sides of the TEW714 (looking from the front) you will see a WPS push button and mode selector switch on the left side and a power switch on the right side. On the bottom end you will see (from left to right) a LAN socked, a hole for a reset button, and 2 USB connectors. The top USB connector is for a thumb type memory card. the bottom USB is for a charger cable for a tablet or phone. To get to the set-up for the device: pace the mode selector in the right most or WISP position. plug the device into AC. Go to your WI-Fi settings on your tablet or phone and list available networks select the network name that starts with TRENDnet714...... . You will be asked for the SSID and the Wi-Fi key. When the light on the front of the device turns green you are connected. Using the management Login info, log in and you will see the home page for setting up the TEW714. This information stored in the device. For purposes I used the Repeater mode. Once it is set up, it retains the settings. Whenever it is powered up it connects. I found that once I was signed on to the device it was fairly intuitive I hope this has been helpful.Read full review

AVOID this one! This device is great looking, very compact and would have made a GREAT travel router -- if it had worked. After about two hours trying to configure it I gave up. I was able to get it to connect to an AP in "WISP mode," but was unable to contact the router once configured. So, as soon as I finish this review I'm going to toss this device into the trash. I knew ANYTHING from Trendnet was a gamble. I lost, but the loss was sorta expected. "A fool and his money are soon parted."
