Prior to Darkness 2 (Darkness 2 lacks originality despite cartoon comic-ish graphics) Darkness still has its replay value even for a 2007 title. It is quite sad, compelling, and joyful at times when playing as good old Jackie. The game presents itself better with better gameplay (Powers) and choices (Side quests) unlike Darkness 2. It is still my all time favorite game in 2018 moving forward. (New actors in Darkness 2 don’t match character personality)

Hello, This game sucks a#$. It looks more like a game from the original Xbox. Boring as hell, I had to drink two Redbulls to keep my a#$ awake. Poor plot,

Graphics: Excellent 9/10 The graphics are very well done and they are sharp. The mouth movement when the characters speak is weak, but the attention to most other details is remarkable. Sound: Great – 8.5/10 You can tell that there is gun fire, and there is something behind you - nice touches for surround sound. Gameplay: Great – 8.5/10 The gameplay is well done and the physics are fun to play with and there are plenty of variances to keep your interst Replay Value – Above Average 7/10 This is a great single player campaign game, but the multiplayer was thrown in because it could be. Overall – 8.5/10 This is a fun game that gives a new spin to the first person shooter genre, though nothing revolutionary, and makes an entertaining and engrossing game. The gameplay brings you in, but it is the weak multiplayer however, is what keeps this game from really shining. The Darkness from the makers of “The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay” is a first-person shooter where you use the lack of light to your advantage. You play Jackie Estacado, who quickly earns the ability to generate tentacles from his back, and by staying out of the light, you gain powers to dominate the game, and your enemies. You can use your darkness powers to create black holes, take out lights in a stabbing motion, sneak ahead and along walls like a snake to areas you can't reach on foot, pick up and toss around objects, etc. You will want to make sure that you take out the lights in this game as you battle along to make sure you have as much of an advantage as you possibly can. This is not your average “run and gun” first person shooter. This game has a lot of dialogue and downtime talking to individuals that it feels like Shenmue at times with all the questioning, and there is a descent amount of time that is spent traveling. The semi-open structure allows roaming to ask questions and fight, but the game makes sure to leave enough with clues, tasks, and signage to streamline this game if you wanted to finish it as quick as possible you achievement hunters. Like Riddick, the main story here won't take you long to get through (it's in the 10-hour range), but because of the game structure, you can spend time getting lost and messing around in the wrong parts of town if you choose, or if you are looking for all the hidden items. Once you complete the game though, this game lacks replay value due to the very poor multiplayer. The multiplayer structure is simple and the Starbreeze team inadvertently admits that multiplayer shouldn't be taken too seriously, as this mode relies on a gimmick: the ability to shape shift from a human to a Darkling. The multiplayer is fun, but it is not a reason to keep playing the game. The story on The Darkness, along with the unique first person shooter elements, makes this game definitely worth checking out. It is a polished, sharp, single player game, with a complete ending, and great story line.Read full review
he Darkness. You work best when you're in the shadows, it's a grisly and occasionally gruesome tale, and it also happens to be the name of the demon festering inside of you. Yes, for multiple reasons, The Darkness is a perfect name for this first-person shooter from 2K and Starbreeze, the developer responsible for The Chronicles of Riddick. Based on a comic book from Top Cow, The Darkness weaves an interesting and authentic tale of mobsters seeking revenge together with an otherworldly force with an insatiable appetite for human hearts. The game opens with an amazing set piece that gets things moving right away. You play as Jackie Estacado, a New York-based mob hit man on his 21st birthday, and you've just woken up in the back of a speeding convertible. A money-collection deal has gone wrong, your two buddies are attempting to get away from crooked cops, and you apparently got knocked out somewhere along the way. As you're speeding along to a construction site to take out the foreman, you're tossed a shotgun to help defend the car from incoming fire. The car crashes, you end up on foot, and the story begins to unfold. Your Uncle Paulie, the leader of the crime family, has gone off the deep end, suspects you of foul play, and puts a hit out on you. So it's on you to tear apart his operation by taking out key moneymakers and money movers. As you do this, Paulie starts to hit back, sending thugs not only in your direction, but also in the direction of Jenny, Jackie's girlfriend and the only person that really matters to him. Luckily, you won't have to fight it out all by yourself.Read full review
Gameplay 9/10 Starbreeze has a way with all there games and that way is darkness. Jackie is a lot like riddick but the main thing is that they both are most powerful in the dark. While the guns are fun to play around with, later in the game they are pretty much reduced to lightbulb shooters, I mean with the darkness arm, guns and the black hole most basic guns are useless.Aside from that there are slight framerate issues, but nothing that will stop you from loving the over the top violence and compelling plot. Graphics 10/10 From the subway stations to the city and even the depths of hell, the darkness is a fantastic looking game. And it's the little things that really shine like the ability to look down and say" I have feet!!" but also the look and feel of the darkness is constantly reminding you that this game is totally awesome and one of the best looking games out there. Sound 10/10 Terrific voice work and the chilling croak of the darkness keep you on the edge of your seat for the somthing like 18 hour ride.Guns also sound great as well as the sound of breaking glass and hearts being ripped out. Value 8/10 The single player is amazing and worth going through multiple times, but the multiplayer is pretty much dead now so it depends if you like single more then multiplayer games. The good One of the most brutal games you can play and it's also one of the most beautiful,Heartfelt story that deals with loss and revenge,Truly satisfieing in every regard (save for the multiplayer), The darkness gets my vote as #1 super villian. The bad Some slight framerate issues,Over the top violence and the sometimes pervasive swearing might not be for everyone.Read full review
Awesome game. 2K studios really has done well since parting with Sega (not a knock on Sega mind you), and have made a faithful rendition of a classic comic series. Believe me when I say that this is not a simple cash cow of a 3rd party licence. It's gunplay and A.I. are top notch and the graphics are amazing. This is a very Mature game with plenty of violence so I do not advise it for children and wish to advise any parents seeking games for their sons or daughters to please be aware of the ESRB ratings. All in all i give it a 8.9 out of 10, mainly due to the Online multiplayer and it not being up to speed with some other FPS's. But like I said it is a great game for the price.
The game has a great story line. It really does, however i think the game could have been taken to another level. It was way fun to play but in the end I felt that it could of been more to it. It wasn't to its full potential but man did I have fun playing it. There were times I got nervouse playing it cuz i had to crawl through dark tiny long tunnels with a flashnight and hope I didn't run into any enemies. There were times I jumped while playing it when an enemy popped out. The game was definently fun to play just could of been more to it. Its about a 21 year old guy who transforms into with all these powers. Play it its at a better price now I think. You will have fun. Nothing amazing but definently fun.
