I have a GE breaker boxe and wanted whole home protection. This is fairly easy to install and the light on it shows you it's working. If the light goes out, then this device protected you from a surge and you need to replace it. This doesn't replace surge protectors for electronics throughout your house, but it does help reduce electrical surge damage. It also helps protect 220v appliances, which don't have surge protectors.
