For anyone wondering, it is essentially the exact same device as the TX-NR6100, which got the highly coveted THX cinema sound certification. This version of that device simply dropped the THX licensing, tweaked a couple settings, and sold it exclusively to Costco with a much friendlier price tag, but the internal hardware powering your speaker setup is the SAME! Also ! If you bought this to use with your new Xbox Series X or Playstation and have a TV capable of 4k@120hz gaming, then you have to do a weird tweak in the menu options. Go change the specific input/output to "8k standard/enhanced". In my case I routed the Xbox through the "GAME" input, and then make sure you use a ULTRA highspeed HDMI 48gbps cable from HDMI OUT to your display. Their menu options are not intuitive and the descriptions of selectable features don't always make sense. Sometimes a function is devoid of any description whatsoever. They need a better English translator to write for them, but for the $$$/value, it's well worth the hardware. Read full review

Although the Advertisement made no mention of this unit being used that I could see, it was clear to me after I opened what appeared to be the original box that this unit was used. There was no manual or any of the attachments; no antenna or sound equalizing equipment, nothing to indicate that it was factory direct. Because of this I find it to be of poor value because new units are available for a mere $25 more. I should have been more suspicious and careful before I bought this, shame on me.

This is the 6th Onkyo receiver I've owned and they have all been great. Before owning Onkyos I had several others from Sherwood, Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, Yamaha, and Realistic. Once I got my first Onkyo in the mid 80s I haven't looked back. Better sound and more features for less money, better performance and longevity, and user friendly in my experience. I haven't had any issues whatsoever with any of them and I'm looking forward to the same with this one. The only other brand I owned that I liked as much as the Onkyos was Realistic but the big box stores, online shopping, and longer lasting equipment put an end to my beloved Radio Shak stores.

Good sound quality and a bargain for all of the features at $350. Basically has everything you are looking for in a modern sound system unless you want more speakers than it can handle. This can sync with your sonos app so can always add speakers that way and play through sonos if you need more. Note: sonos won't connect to receiver w/o additional equipment but receiver will hook up to sonos.

Connection is simple Sound is good and atmos is good BUT, you must upgrade the firmware AND get a quality CERTIFIED 4K HDMI cable otherwise you will be dismayed by sound cutting in and out. Also make sure hdmi setting is MAIN only unless using 2nd zone. Once I figured this out it works great Receivers during this time period are prone to hdmi issues. A lot of refurbished out there where they replaced the hdmi ports.
