    Great low-maintenance NAS

    I've only had this NAS for a couple days, but so far I like it; see last paragraph for a possible concern. It has plenty of features, is easy to set up, completely quiet. I'm using it as a back-up (only) device for multiple Windows and Linux PCs, and not as a media center or a live file-sharing device. I had been using an old PC as a NAS, but that died, so I got this QNAP to replace it, since I wanted a quiet appliance I did not have to maintain. Both Linux and Windows can connect with the QNAP. I enabled Windows shares to make that easy, since that's how I had been operating with the old PC; the device also supports other options like NFS. I haven't yet explored the QNAP QSync, but I'm in no hurry because I have everything backing up using scripts I developed when I was using the ...
